13th World Home

 

Rev. Dr. Kenneth K. Tanaka, professor of Buddhist Studies at Musashino University in Tokyo, Japan will be the keynote speaker for the 13th World Buddhist Women's Convention.  He will speak on September 2nd, Saturday morning at 10:00a.m. on the convention Theme: BUDDHA’S VOW, MY ASPIRATION and Slogan: MAY THERE BE PEACE IN THE WORLD, MAY THE BUDDHA DHARMA SPREAD!
 

Rev. Tanaka's many publications include: Ocean: An Introduction to Jodo-Shinshu Buddhism in America; The Dawn of Chinese Pure Land Buddhist Doctrine:  Chin-ying Hui-yuan's Commentary to the Visualization Sutra; The Faces of Buddhism in America, Engaged Pure Land Buddhism; Shinshu-nyumon, and Pure Land Buddhism:  Historical Development and Contemporary Manifestation.

He and his wife, Kimie Carrie Tanaka, who is also a music instructor at Musashino University, will conduct a workshop in English and Japanese entitled: SING ALONG SERMONS.  Familiar Japanese folk songs will be sung together to affirm and to support the points of Rev. Tanaka's dharma message.  Session A scheduled for  Kamehameha Exhibit Hall III is one of the 9 workshops being offered to the delegates.

Rev. Kenneth Tanaka, our keynote speaker at the 13th World Buddhist Women's Convention, is making available a set of DVDs of his 2005 year long TV series - Buddhist Educational Program in English. Each program is 15 minutes long and one set consists of 13 DVDs of 51 programs. One set is FREE to each temple, fellowship or independent center. If you wish for a set, a temple representative present at the World Convention should go to the Free time Room 317AB on Saturday, September 2, 2006 from 4:30 - 6:00p.m., sign a release form and pick up a set to take it back to her temple.

An order form for Rev. Kenneth Tanaka's book, "Ocean" in Japanese can be found in the Japan delegates' registration materials. If you wish to order the book, upon returning to your home in Japan, complete the form and mail it in.
